Kosmiq ("Kosmiq," "we," "us," or "our") operates kosmiq.app and the Kosmiq mobile
and web application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use,
disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. Please read this
Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please do not access the
Service.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect the following types of information:

- Account information — your email address (which may be a university/.edu address)
and a display name you choose.
- Profile and learning data — your progress, quiz results, ratings, streaks, and
settings.
- Content you provide — in the Astronomer space, the syllabus text and course details
you enter, and any homework, practice exams, or other study materials you upload.
We extract the text from uploaded files and then discard the original file — we do
not store your PDFs.
- Nova chat — messages you send to the in-app assistant.
- Usage and device data — device type, browser, and interactions, used to run and
improve the Service.
- Payment data — if you subscribe, payments are processed by PayPal. We receive
confirmation of your subscription status but we do not collect or store your card
details.

We collect this information when you voluntarily provide it, when you use the Service,
or through automated technologies such as cookies.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service — generate your lessons and practice,
save your progress, and personalize your experience.
- Verify student status for the Astronomer space, via your academic email domain.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Understand and improve how the Service is used.
- Keep the Service safe (abuse prevention, rate limiting, content moderation).
- Communicate with you about your account or the Service.
- Comply with our legal obligations.

4. AI PROCESSING

The information needed for a given request — such as your course details, uploaded
study-material text, and level of study — is sent to our AI provider to produce YOUR
OWN content. Your uploaded materials are used only to create practice for you and
are NOT shared with or used to generate content for other users.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We share data only with providers that help us run Kosmiq like paypal for payment and google for email services.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Service and to
remember your session and preferences.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is
being sent. If you do not accept cookies, some parts of the Service may not function
properly.

7. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set
out in this Privacy Policy. You can delete your account or your uploaded materials at
any time; deleting them removes them from your account. We may retain limited records

We protect your data with row-level access controls, encrypted connections, and
server-side authorization. However, no method of transmission over the internet or
method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute

11. CHILDREN

Kosmiq is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. REFUND POLICY
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Paid Astronomer features (the Semester Pass) are digital products, and access is
granted immediately after purchase.

- 1 DAY LIMITED REFUND WINDOW. You may request a full refund within 1, days of purchase if you have not substantially used the paid features — for example, if you have generated no more than 2 lessons. This lets you try it risk-free.
- After the window, or after substantial use, purchases are non-refundable, except
where a refund is required by the consumer-protection law that applies to you.
- HOW TO REQUEST: email support@kosmiq.app from your account email with your purchase details. We aim to respond within 5 business days; approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via PayPal.
- Duplicate or accidental charges are always refunded.
- If Kosmiq is later distributed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, those stores' own refund rules will also apply to purchases made through them.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by
posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. For material
